Hear it before rehearsal

Find out how a new piece goes before anyone plays it for you.

One voice or all of them

Play just your part, slower, or the whole score in another key.

MP3 for any phone

Download the audio and listen on the way to rehearsal. MIDI and MusicXML too.

How to turn sheet music into audio

  1. Drop a PDF or a photo of printed sheet music above, or take a photo with your phone.
  2. Pick a page. It is read in about ten seconds.
  3. Play it right in the browser, choose a voice, change the key or slow it down, then download MP3, MIDI, MusicXML or a clean PDF.

MP3, MIDI or played in the browser

The page plays right away in the browser, with a tempo control from 50% to 120%. The MP3 is a file for any phone or music app. The MIDI has one track per part, for a DAW, a keyboard or a practice app; see sheet music to MIDI. Both follow the part and the key you chose.

For singers: just your part

Choose Soprano, Alto, Tenor or Bass and the audio has only that line, so you can sing along with it. For a whole folder of pieces, see choir rehearsal tracks, or use the ScanSing app, which plays your line louder than the rest and shows where you sing off.

What it does not do

ScanSing reads printed notes and plays them with a clean instrument sound. It does not sing the words and it does not turn a recording into notes.

Questions

Is it really free?

Yes. Without an account you can read one page a day, any page of the file. Sign in with an email and you get 20 pages a month, no card. More pages are on the pricing page.

Does the audio sing the lyrics?

No. Notes are played with an instrument sound. The lyrics are kept in the MusicXML and on the printed PDF.

Can I slow it down?

Yes. The player in the browser goes from 50% to 120% of the written tempo.

Can I change the key?

Yes. Move the score up or down, or pick a voice and let it find a key that fits. The MP3 and MIDI follow the new key.

Which files can I scan?

PDF, JPEG, PNG, HEIC (iPhone photos), TIFF and WebP, up to 30 MB.

Can it read handwritten music?

No. It is built for printed, engraved scores. Clean PDFs, scans and flat photos read best.

Are my scores kept?

Files and results are deleted after about an hour and are never used to train models. See the Privacy Policy.
